Playing With Menswear

So, I have to admit. I'm a bit of a Project Runway junkie.. it's pretty awesome. I was watching an old Season 8 one where the designers were split into two teams of 6 and had to make a mini collection. This is the season with Gretchen, Andy, Mondo.. do you guys know what I'm talking about? Oh well if you don't it's okay. It really has no relevance. But anyways I was inspired by the losing teams play on menswear. It was kind blah and bland but it had some good ideas that I wanted to incorporate into my look that night.

Playing with menswear can be super casual and comfortable. You have to make sure the proportions of your clothes are right. No baggy shirt, baggy pant, clunky shoe.. you have to even it out! Here's a casual outfit of a play on menswear. The easiest way to get into it are oversized button downs and oxfords. They scream masculine but with a tight tee and these higher waisted shorts, they whisper feminine.

(Like my little personifications? Yeah. High school English for the win.)

So here they are! Excuse the crappy quality. This is my first time of shooting my own outfits and I had to do it myself with my iPhone.. who ever is reading.. let me know if I should do more!

Getting Older, Getting... Wiser?

Today's my birthday. Hiphip hooray blah blah blah. This isn't necessarily fashion related but I wised up yesterday. I faced a childish fear and now I feel stronger. Whoever is reading out there, just know this. Your fears aren't as scary as they once seemed after you have faced them. It was kind of a stupid fear but a frightening fear nonetheless pour moi. So I leave you with that little inspiring realization of mine. Also, you guys could wear red, white, and blue today. Just go more for patriotically nautical and not patriotically tacky. Happy fourth to anyone in America who is celebrating today.
